So after thinking of starting the Indie Game Squad as a group for quite some time I finally decided it was now or never. So I set up a website, Facebook page, Instagram account and Twitter made a logo and hired a hall. After telling a few friends and colleagues that we had our first meeting booked Indie Game Squad was officially a ‘thing’.
The first meeting was attended by seven of us (c’mon it was short notice!) all of whom had some connection to the world of indie games and the Moray Game Jam. We discussed what we would like out of these meetups, there were strong feelings on getting feedback on ideas and games, help and collaboration on projects, actually playing games, social events and a game jam… more on that later.
The first meetup was, albeit a small gathering but a success nonetheless. I was weary going into this as I was unsure if it was even something people would be interested in past the first meeting, but everyone seems genuinely enthusiastic and intrigued as to where Indie Game Squad is going to go, and I’m hoping the next meetup will have a few more numbers, but even if it’s the same size as the first one at least we’re one track to get things moving in the right direction.
